Emma Hadré
Emma Hadré is a doctoral researcher at CAU Kiel University since September 2023 working in close cooperation with the PRE-COLLAPSE team.
Picking up on Elisa’s master thesis research, Emma is using marine geophysical datasets to investigate the catastrophic collapse of Fogo volcano, Cape Verde, using geomorphological and subsurface information from seismic and bathymetric datasets. Through a detailed reconstruction of the Monte Amarelo flank collapse, her research project will improve our understanding of tsunamigenic collapse events.
Emma completed a master’s program in physical geography at the University of Bremen. For her master’s thesis, she worked in close cooperation with the Pre-Collapse team and GFZ Potsdam, investigating tsunami hazard from catastrophic collapse through geomorphometric analysis.
Emma’s fascination for volcanoes was sparked during an internship with Thomas Walter and Edgar Zorn at GFZ Potsdam in 2019. Since then, she has joined several research cruises doing mainly hydroacoustic measurements. At RV Meteor expedition M178, the HazELNUT project offshore Etna, she got to know Morelia Urlaub and the PRE-COLLAPSE project. Coming from a geography background now working in marine geophysics, Emma appreciates working at the intersection of various disciplines. Her research interests include volcanoes, marine geophysics and natural hazards.
